AfriMold 2013

4 - 6 June 2013

The popular PISA Design Competition saw Industrial Design Students from UJ and TUT (50) displaying and presenting their concepts around the brief to design a compactor for recovery of waste in urban townships. They enjoyed the participation of industry specialists, and gained from insights given during displays, presentations and judging. This was certainly the highlight of AfriMold.

The very entertaining Brian Steinhobel delivered the opening address, showing the power of design in opening up new opportunities.

At our first meeting for the new financial year, the Committee agreed on the need to be more responsive to members needs and create an atmosphere of participation. If one looks back to the heady days of the early nineties', PISA was a formidable force in mobilising all aspects of the plastics industry. We had many high level events from the Plasmobile Conferences, evening lectures at the Wanderers Club, two Golf Days per Year, and the annual Gala Dinner.

Our industry currently exceeds that of the gold sector, we have an estimated turnover of R45 Billion, and employ in the region of 63 000 people, at all levels

Innovation is what will ensure our sector prevails and gains market share. This starts with you, our Esteemed Member, actively participating in our events. Hence a rallying call to encourage participation in our planned events.
